We’re excited to announce that our partner in Argentina is launching a groundbreaking reforestation initiative rooted in the ancestral wisdom of the Wichi people. At the heart of this project lies the remarkable “mother’s wombs” technique. This is an ancient method in which carefully built wood mounds undergo slow, controlled combustion over 80 days. This process creates biochar enriched with seeds and organic matter, forming a powerful natural “seed bomb” that restores degraded land with minimal human intervention.
Developed over generations, this technique reflects the Wichi people’s deep understanding of their local ecosystem. It not only regenerates forests but also strengthens cultural heritage and community resilience.
The project also opens an important space for collaboration between indigenous communities and scientific institutions. By combining traditional ecological knowledge with modern research, it has the potential to inspire new and improved reforestation methods that benefit both local communities and the global environment.
More information on this project will follow soon!
