Coral reef restoration in Madagascar
Nosy Tanga, Madagascar
In Madagascar, 1.5 million people depend on coral reefs for food and the reefs are at the basis of their livelihood. Some of the direct ecosystem services are food supply, cultural services, materials supply, climate regulation, and hope for research.
The first pilot restoration site within this project, run by our local partner Koraï, was that of Nosy Antsoha. The tranplanted corals of August 2023 were growing and healthy in November 2023, proving the transplantation techniques to be viable.

Contour Travel's large coral frame
This large coral frame is supporting 40 coral fragments. The frame was outplaced on 08/05/2026, and it is located near Tanga Island, Archipelago de Nosy Be, Madagascar.
