A monitoring visit to the Rendeux project, planted in Spring 2024, shows the site is developing well with a 95% recovery rate and a good overall health status. The project is transforming what was once a monospecific spruce stand, lost to bark beetle attack, into a more diverse forest of linden, hornbeam, spruce and Douglas fir. Biotic damage from an unidentified cause has affected around 5% of plants.

The plot's location within surrounding forest cover is already lending it a helping hand as the young trees establish. A particularly encouraging sign is the natural regeneration visible on site, with birch, rum cherry, rowan and oak all coming through on their own. These will be retained and allowed to develop naturally, adding further diversity to the plantation over time.
