Between February and May 2025, Gouvy welcomed 2,000 new trees across 8.7 hectares of land. This reforestation project, carefully carried out by Pirothon and a team of five professional planters, is part of our ongoing efforts to restore and future-proof local forests. The initial goal was to introduce a mixed stand with 75% larch and 25% Abies grandis.
As of now, we've already planted: 500 Abies grandis, 250 hybrid larches, and 200 European larches. Planting was done in lines, with species mixed within those lines, on sometimes steep terrain. Luckily, dry weather allowed machinery access. One challenge? A strong drying wind.
The remaining larch trees will be added in autumn, allowing us to observe how natural regeneration behaves following the line mulching. It’s a thoughtful balance between planning and letting nature take its course.
