In the beginning of 2025, under favorable frost-free weather conditions, a new forest took root in Chevron on a 1-hectare plot previously occupied by spruce and birch trees. A total of 1,000 trees were planted, with a rich and diverse mix of native species: 600 sessile oaks, along with apple trees, sweet chestnuts, small-leaved limes, wild service trees, alder, wild cherry, and beech.
The trees were planted in rows and mixed clusters, following careful site preparation (including light soil scarification where needed). The result? A forest that was even better than the original plan, with greater species diversity and a more resilient future. Maintenance has already started with early-stage clearing, and the site is set for a healthy, biodiverse future.
