We had excellent conditions for our recent larvae sampling survey. The team visited both installation sites using a water pump deployed from the CTV, positioned just above the seabed. In total, six samples were collected — three per location — by Waardenburg Ecology. These samples are now being analyzed by Wageningen Marine Research.
The goal is to determine whether the introduced flat oysters are producing larvae, which would be a strong indicator that they are contributing to reef restoration. A timeline for the results isn't confirmed yet, but the full report will follow as soon as possible. This larvae density measurement offers a valuable additional layer of insight into the oysters' condition.
Looking ahead, the team will return for another ROV monitoring survey in September/October!
