This year, our technical partner in Tanzania (Changomoto Youth Organizations) opened a new nursery, bringing their total to two nurseries in full operation. Together, these sites now provide full-time employment for 20 people in the community. The expansion strengthens the organization’s role in combining environmental restoration with community development, offering steady work while advancing local sustainability goals.
Nursery work is central to reforestation and agroforestry. It begins with collecting seeds and guiding them through the early stages of growth. Seedlings are cared for daily, protected against pests and diseases and monitored until they are strong enough to be transplanted on site. This work requires patience and consistency, but it also builds ecological awareness and responsibility. Each seedling represents a future tree that can restore landscapes, improve biodiversity and support climate resilience. Through this careful process, nursery teams contribute directly to healthier ecosystems and stronger communities.
