Focused winter-care efforts have helped young saplings stay healthy despite dry soil and water scarcity in Jhargram.
To conserve moisture, families used thick mulching with dry leaves, straw and local biomass to protect roots from winter dryness. Watering was done carefully in the early morning or evening to reduce water loss. Field teams conducted hands-on demonstrations on winter-specific nurturing practices such as compost use, proper mulching and simple soil care techniques. Regular follow-up visits and community meetings reinforced the importance of winter care and shared responsibility in protecting saplings. Low-cost fencing and collective watering support further strengthened protection efforts.
These combined moisture conservation efforts and community sensitization have helped the saplings stay healthy and well cared for throughout the winter season!
