Since 2021, our local partner Bôndy has been running a mangrove restoration program in the Boeny region. But restoration alone is not enough: for conservation to last over time, it must also make sense economically and culturally.
Today, to anchor this restoration sustainably, Bôndy is launching an innovative pilot program, supported in parallel by a committed partner alongside them: LANDIBE 🐛
LANDIBE means “silkworm” in Malagasy, referring to Borocera madagascariensis, a species endemic to Madagascar. This project transforms a fragile natural resource into a lever for local employment, mangrove conservation, and the promotion of an ancestral craft.
LANDIBE aims to structure a sustainable pilot value chain around Borocera madagascariensis. It seeks to provide new opportunities for rural women, while strengthening environmental protection and honoring local cultural heritage.
