Monitoring shows the Humbeek hedge, planted in winter 2023-2024, thriving with a 95% recovery rate and a good overall health status, a strong result for a young hedge still in its establishment phase.

The 145m hedge, made up of hawthorn, hornbeam, maple, viburnum, dogwood, hazel and other species, was planted in two lines around an orchard, replacing herbaceous vegetation and shrubs of little ecological value. Manual clearing has been carried out to give the young plants the space they need to grow.

Set within a bocage landscape, the hedge is already fitting in meaningfully, strengthening the network of habitats that this type of landscape depends on and adding another building block to the area's biodiversity.
