Positivity abides despite multiple setbacks in the DRC project 🇨🇩

A major private funder has recently withdrawn from a wide range of global initiatives, including this project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The decision is most likely influenced by shifts in U.S. policy, came unexpectedly, and heavily impacts the current resources. It’s a challenge, affecting multiple aspects of the project.

On top of that, the local team had to deal with some heartbreaking events on the ground. One of the lead agronomists tragically lost his life in a forest fire, and three planters were struck by lightning - an event that they didn't survive. These are moments that go beyond the day-to-day work and hit hard, both emotionally and operationally.

Still, the project is holding steady. These setbacks have reminded us of the strength of our teams. The local team has responded with care, clarity, and purpose, and the motivation to keep going is strong. The work continues, thanks to the deep commitment of everyone involved.

We remain focused on what matters most: the mission, the people behind it, and the ecosystems we’re restoring. If there were ever a time to stand behind long-term, locally empowered nature restoration work, it is now.

Whether through continued support for this project, introductions to other potential sponsors, or spreading the word, your support can make a real difference. Let’s keep building a green and sustainable future in the DRC 🌱🌿🌳
