Rainfall delay impacts planting schedule in Nkundei

Magamba Nature Forest Reserve, Tanzania
12/9/2025

This year, the onset of rainfall in Nkundei village has been later than expected, resulting in a postponement of planned agroforestry activities. Adequate soil moisture is a critical factor for the survival of newly planted native tree seedlings, and initiating planting before sufficient rainfall would have posed a high risk of seedling loss.

We are now observing the first rains beginning, a promising sign that provides the green light to start planting soon. With improved conditions, the team will be able to move forward with establishing native species and advancing the agroforestry project.
