Site monitoring conducted in July 2026 shows the plot in Overijse is in good state. Since the last monitoring round, ca. 400 maple seedlings have been replanted to replace trees damaged by rabbits. On the silvicultural side, mulching has been carried out around the young trees, suppressing competing vegetation and helping retain soil moisture as the trees establish.

The site is developing a rich habitat for local wildlife. A wildflower meadow and a pollinator-friendly edge, maintained through minimal mowing, support pollinators and native flora. Honey bee hives are present on site, and roe deer have recently been observed, with wild boar sighted in autumn last year.

Encouragingly, natural regeneration is now visible across the plot, with maple, birch, walnut and sweet chestnut seedlings emerging alongside wild strawberries. These will be retained and allowed to develop naturally, further enhancing the site's biodiversity.
